Obituary
On January 14, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, Willie
Davis McRae and Exie Marie Thomas celebrated with joy, the birth of their
son, John David McRae.
Elder John D McRae was a native Baltimorean.
He was a graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in
Baltimore, Maryland. He also attended the Charles Harrison Mason College,
Baltimore, Maryland and completed other courses of higher education in
the ministry.
Elder John D McRae was a man of vision
and purpose striving to do the will of God with power and demonstration
of the Holy Ghost.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me: because
the Lord has anointed me to preach the good tidings unto the meek: he
hath sent to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive,
and opening of the prison to them that are bound.”
Elder John D McRae served as Pastor
of the New Victory Chapel Church of God In Christ (COGIC) located in Baltimore,
Maryland from 1990 until December 2002 under his ministry many have been
saved, blessed and anointed to do the will of God.
We thank God for the soul mate He placed in his life
some years ago, Mrs. Christina Stephens-McRae, the mother of their daughter,
seven year old K.C. McRae.
Elder John D McRae founded the Greater
Temple of Praise Ministries located in Baltimore, Maryland where he served
as Chief Executive Officer and Pastor of the New Beginnings Temple of
Praise Ministries.
Elder John D McRae was elected to the office of Bishop in June 2005; however,
he chose to wait until June 2006 to be consecrated to the sacred office
of Bishop.
Until his untimely death, Bishop McRae served as the
presiding prelate of the Greater Temple of Praise Ministries.
Bishop John D McRae was a man of God,
full of faith and wisdom. He believed in giving God the highest praise.
One of his favorite sayings was, “When praises go up, blessings
come down!”
On Thursday evening, August 30, 2007, the Almighty God, concluded that
Bishop McRae’s earthly Ministry was completed.
God dispatched His Angel of Mercy to the side of his humble servant, and
